AERONAUTICS - The new device is a commercial success ...

Airbus has created the event Wednesday at Paris Air Show by receiving the largest order ever placed by a single airline. The group takes on the broad in the traditional race between the orders to Boeing.

A320neo

The low-cost Indian carrier Indigo has confirmed its intention to purchase 150 A320neo, remotorisée version of the A320 and 30 A320 Family aircraft, a total of 180 aircraft for $ 16.2 billion based on the list price

This new order for the massive A320neo, became the undisputed star of the show, is likely to provide some additional pressure on Boeing. It must decide on the future of B737: repowering, as did the Airbus A320, or redefinition of greater magnitude.

The two aerospace giants are engaged in fierce competition for control over the single-aisle aircraft, which constitute the bulk of the world fleet. They buy in bulk, especially by Asian companies and those with low costs.

One thousand units

In the wake of the order of Indigo, John Leahy, Chief Commercial Officer, said that the number of orders and commitments for A320neo could reach 1,000 units by the end of the Paris Air Show at the end of the weeks.

The symbolic threshold of 1000 commitments for the aircraft should be achieved through the company's Malaysian AirAsia, which should beat the fresh record Thursday Indigo with an order for 200 aircraft, mostly aircraft family A320neo.

Competition with Boeing

In three days of the show, Airbus has booked more than three times more orders than Boeing . The European aircraft manufacturer can take advantage of 630 commitments to purchase, against 141 for its U.S. rival.

Value based on list prices, the Airbus order represents $ 59.7 billion, against 22.4 billion accumulated by Boeing.
