The stunning House and Gallery Project is exactly what it sounds like. Architects Lekker Design, known for their bold architectural creativity, created a dual-purpose space that incorporates a large, triple-height art gallery.
The two volumes intertwine visually and physically without actually breaching the seclusion of the living quarters.
The gallery has a separate access point to accommodate the public. The bottom of the residential volume appears suspended over the gallery, acting as a functional and stylish drop ceiling – black paint and exposed beams add a sense of drama to an otherwise bright white interior.
Surprises hide around every corner. It seems like small gardens sprouted up on every flat external surface. These creatively placed plants provide just the right amount of color and organic variation to break up the expanses of white. Our favorite part touch has to be the sprawling staircase, cutting a leisurely path through the modern home.
We only wish we could see more of the residential half – if the public portion is so beautiful, we can only imagine what the rest of the House and Gallery Project looks like.
