Mohammed Moussaoui: "France should address the issue of Islam in a more pacified"

Technology blog from Bangladesh

INTERVIEW - Re-elected President of the French Council of Muslim Faith (CFCM) Sunday, Mohammed Moussaoui an update on the projects undertaken by the Board ...

Three more years to act for the rights of Islam .Mohammed Moussaoui, President of the French Muslim Council since 2008, was re-elected Sunday. The Franco-Moroccan 47 years did not see himself "stranded projects launched in the last three years, when opportunities for action are real." 20Minutes an update on the areas of work undertaken by the board.

Why have you shown to the presidency of the CFCM?

Several ongoing projects, conducted over the past three years, have not yet emerged. The procedures are lengthy and complex. At the construction of mosques, for example, we are currently in discussions with governments to achieve long-term leases in order to preserve the land operated in time.Muslims at the square [space reserved for the dead in cemeteries Muslim] we managed to get 130 additional locations since 2008 and we want to further develop this axis. The CFCM also wants the national committee of vigilance of anti-Muslim acts in the accompanying smaller scale in regional committees.

Do you think the government is involved there really representative of Islam in France?

I think we have evolved and that the French system supports the integration of Islam. The government helped us to several projects such as building new places of worship and the defense of ritual slaughter in the rules of Islam. However, should the public authorities are working on the visibility of Islam in France, not in terms of quantity but quality. There is much talk of Islam but not always for the right reasons. I think the question of Islam should be treated in a more pacified by the government.

The agreement of the UMP on secularism and Islam in March had instead set fire to the powder ...

A number of proposals go beyond what may be acceptable because they call into play the principle of religious freedom.I think of the proposal on veiled mothers accompanying their child's class for a field trip that should remove their veils. This proposal is seen as religious discrimination in the sense that these mothers can not be treated as "agents of public service."There is no risk of proselytism.

And a law banning the full veil? What significance does the wearing of the burqa?

For a vast majority of Muslim theologians, wearing the full veil is a religious obligation.According to the texts of Muslim jurisprudence, a woman must have the face and hands uncovered during times of pilgrimage. The abuses are once again the misinterpretation of sacred texts in history, only the prophet's wives or women in "confession" had to cover her face to speak to him.

Last June, an Algerian married to a French woman was denied French citizenship , for breach of equality between men and women. What do you think?

Naturalization of an individual requires respect for a number of rules, including being consistent with the model of the Republic. However, I do not think this ban should be directly referred to the religion, but rather to inappropriate behavior of man toward his wife, as it could be the case with many other non-Muslim couples.

The 2012 presidential approaching, do you think a candidate would be best able to represent another Muslim?

Again, this is not to standardize the Muslims.Muslim citizens are plural and they are even more in their political choice. Many parameters involved in the selection of a candidate and, contrary to what one might think, religion is not decisive.
