Burgers infected: SEB products are the cause of the contamination

The SEB burgers are the source of the contamination of eight children with a virulent strain of E.coli last week in Lille in the north, announced Monday that the branches of Food and Health.

"The results of analysis of ground beef collected in dietary surveys among affected families confirmed the link with the batch removed from Country Steak brand," say the DGA and the DGS in a joint statement.They state that this lot, sold in packages of one kilo (10 steaks 100 grams) is a use-by date (DLC) of 11 May 2012 and the approval number FR 52 448 02 CE.

The investigation into the source of the contamination continues

"Virulent strains found in the analysis done on children have also been isolated in the analysis of samples of steaks, including the strain E.coli O 157, "the statement said."Investigations are continuing the search for the origin of the contamination of steaks with these bacteria." Lots of meat crimes were withdrawn from sale.

On Monday, two of the eight children in hospital since June 15 have left the University Hospital of Lille and were able to return home during the day, we had learned earlier from the hospital.Six other children are still treated at University Hospital, including a two-year-old boy of the Oise which the state has required his placement in induced coma and on life support.In this young patient, infection with E.coli, which causes acute kidney failure is complicated by neurological damage.

For these eight cases, suspicions were quickly brought on frozen burgers brand "Country Steak" marketed by the sign distribution Lidl.
