Two months late for Intel Ivy Bridge - Ivy Bridge is the name of the next architecture Intel processors for desktops and notebooks made from the production process to 22 nanometers , the first to use the tri-gate transistor , also known as 3D transistors . Usually the presentation of a new architecture is made by the chipmaker earlier this year, often in conjunction with the CES in Las Vegas. This time however, Intel has decided to wait another two months .
According to reports published by Digitimes , notebook manufacturers have confirmed our plans: Ivy Bridge will be announced in March 2012 .
One of the reasons that justify this delay may depend on the bugs found in the Intel P67 and H67 processor Sandy Bridge . This past February, Intel has identified a design fault of the SATA II controller integrated on motherboards already on the market. The distribution of the B3 revision of the chipset started in April, so now Intel have decided to grant two more months to producers to dispose of stocks of products based on Sandy Bridge.
The new plans the company should have no impact on profits, as the current second-generation Core processors are able to keep up with the solutions of AMD . In addition, the Sunnyvale chipmaker has delayed the launch of the architecture Bulldozer in September , so Intel can sleep soundly.
