Built as a warehouse in the Victorian area and converted into residential units in the 1990s, Shepherdess Walk has definitely traveled a long and storied journey from utilitarianism to luxury modern.
The most recent renovation (completed in 2012) is the work of architect Manuel Irsara of SIR Solutions. A mostly open floor plan takes full advantage of the roof/terrace extension – spacious, bright, and so full of potential.
The simple interior design allows for plenty of flexibility, a wonderful example of effective space management. We think the Shepherdess Walk Loft Apartment perfectly embodies the social London lifestyle, versatile to accommodate many different needs.
This open plan loft is large enough to host two social areas (one for direct socializing) with a library wall to screen it from the television/media zone. A wood accent wall behind the television makes the alcove look very cozy; a high DVD shelf provides streamlined storage.
Midcentury furnishings are simple to maintain an airy balance within the white interior. Tulip tables in the social lounge hold fresh flowers, Bertoia chairs help to keep things light in the kitchen and bedrooms. Graphic rugs and coordinating artwork tie it all together.
